Coastal Inspired Design

June 18, 2018

Summer has officially arrived even in the Midwest, the sunny hot weather of the past few days is what gets us in the mood for breezy and fresh interior palettes and our client’s kitchen and dining area is what we call the perfect coastal inspired interiors!

When we first started collaborating with this family of four who had relocated to the Midwest from Southern California, we learned what their “must-have” were:

1. a farmhouse inspired table, rustic with clean lines, that could easily sit 8 people, and perhaps even 10
2. as the kitchen and dining room space opened into each other, it was also important that the dining room selections compliment the white and gray hues of the kitchen
3. window treatments that could create privacy during meal time but not block the light and view and make the space still feel open

For this dining room, reDesign home was inspired by the vibes of the client – learning more about their roots, simple requests for a functional design, and desire for strong yet muted focal points, we put together three designs. Each was well received by the client, but the ultimate design picks hinged on timeless elements that could be enjoyed for years to come.

The final design choices came together beautifully in person, and is the space that will welcome family and friends gathering, laughs, delicious food and drinks tasting for many years to come!
Enjoy this before and after transformation of this coastal-inspired dining room!
